Maintenance Engineering is the discipline and profession of applying engineering concepts into optimizing equipment, procedures, and spendings to achieve better Maintainability, Reliability, and availability of equipment.A Maintenance Engineer shall possess significant knowledge of statistics and probability and logistics in addition to
fundamental knowledge of the operation of the equipment and machinery he/she is responsible for.A Maintenance Engineer shall also possess high interpersonal, communication and management skills.Assure optimalization of the Maintenance Organization structure. Analyze repetitive failures of equipment, Estimate maintenance costs and evaluate alternatives.
Forecast spare parts,Assess need for equipment replacement and establish replacement programs when due, Apply scheduling and Project Management principles for replacement program. Assess required maintenance tools and skills required for efficient maintenance of equipment, Assess required skills required for maintenance personnel.
Review Transfer into and out of Maintenance Organization responsibility, Assess and report safety hazards associated with maintenance of equipment.There are no dedicated Bachalor Degree programs for Maintenance Engineering. However, Maintenance Engineers usually hold a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or other Engineering Desciplines.
